Our Favorite Go To Beers

Whether you have had a hard day in the office, finished some yard work or just because you wanted one, we all have our favorite go to beers that we enjoy. Here at Smoking Hot Dad we are no different and below are our “go to” beers!

Brian

Beer name: Dragon’s Milk –Burbon Barrel Aged Stout
Brewery: New Holland Brewing Company
ABV: 11%
Why I drink it: It has a smooth, even flavor with notes of Burbon from the aging process on the finish. Pairs well with spicy food, which I often eat. And did you see that ABV?! This is a real time saver! Just one bottle and I am done drinking for the evening. Which is a good thing too because it is a very rich and filling beer, so I probably wouldn’t want a second one.

Brad

Beer name: Phantom Bride
Brewery: Belching Beaver
ABV: 7.1%
Why I drink it: This one is a special treat that I enjoy whenever I can. Crisp and refreshing, a great way to reward myself for a job well done or while grilling for the family. From BeerAdvocate.com, it is “named after the ethereal song by the one and only Deftones; Phantom Bride IPA is a blend of Amarillo, Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops delicately balanced for the perfectly drinkable mix of citrus and hoppy goodness”.

Mark

Beer name: Cali Squeeze, Blood Orange
Brewery: Firestone (originally SLO Brew)
ABV: 5%
Why I drink it: I love this beer. It’s super refreshing, crisp and flavorful.  But with minimal bitter from hops, and no bubble gum flavor from the yeast common in Bavarian style hefeweizens.  To paraphrase Forest Gump, I am not a beer guy, but I know what love is. 😉

Seth

Beer name: Purple Tears
Brewery: Ventura Coast Brewing Company (VCBC)
ABV: 6.7%
IBU: 46
Why I drink it: Purple Tears has a great balance between citrus and dank that is refreshing. I am a little bias towards West Coast IPA’s. That said, if I am by the pool, watching a game, or walking around with other dad’s while our kid’s go trick or treating, Purple Tears it is!

Steve

Beer name: West Coast Pale Ale
Brewery: MadeWest Brewing Co
ABV: 5.6%
Why I drink it: Big fan of West Coast ales (Mosaic and Simcoe hops) and this just seems to tick all the right boxes for me – clean, crisp and tastes great. This is the one beer I always have in my beer fridge for days when I just need to have that beer!

Conclusion

Our go to beers are as diverse and fun as we are, and we hope you found one you might try soon! What are your go to beers? Any recommendations? Let us know in the comments or on our socials @smoking_hot_dad!
