Our Favorite Holiday Drinks

With the holidays just around the corner, we wanted to share our favorite holiday drinks and what we will be drinking and enjoying with friends and family.

Happy holidays to you, your family, and friends!

Brian

Drink: Hot chocolate with dark rum (recipe here)
Made by: Usually make my own hot chocolate, but Ghirardelli cocoa mix is very good. Favorite dark rum is Bumbu Dark Rum from Sovereign Brands
ABV: 35%
Why I drink it: It is the ultimate adult Christmas drink!

Drink: Memphis (Lynchburg) Mule (Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire + Bundaberg Ginger Beer)
Distillery: Jack Daniels Distillery
ABV: 35%
Why I drink it: A delightful Southern twist on the winter favorite Moscow Mule, this Memphis Mule (or rather, Lynchburg) is incredibly smooth. This year, we became adults and acknowledged that Fireball Whiskey belongs to 20-somethings. I don’t usually go for JD whiskey, but as a cinnamon alternative to the old college standby, it is a dangerously delicious compliment to higher quality ginger beers. You are guaranteed to get into the “spirit” with this one!

Beverage: Vodka & Soda
Made by: Haymaker’s / Ventura Spirits
ABV: 5%
Why I drink it: Why i drink it:  Clean, crisp and refreshing. This vodka has interesting flavor, and very surprising how adding soda water softens the alcohol bit. Great for sipping. Doesn’t overpower food; even lightens some heavy dishes.

Beverage: Whiskey neat (two finger pour) – High West Double Rye Whiskey
Distillery: High West Distillery
ABV: 46%
Why I drink it: Sweet and smooth whiskey without the burn. Perfect for this time of year.

Drink: Jack Daniels Old No.7
Distillery: Jack Daniels Distillery
ABV: 40%
Why I drink it: I do enjoy a JD and coke/ginger ale throughout the year but for some unknown reason I tend to enjoy it more over the holiday period. Tend to shy away from the wine (do love a glass or two or red – see my entry in our Thanksgiving post) during this time and sip away at the Old No.7.
