Life rules

Having a bad day? Beating yourself up over something? Someone annoying you? If so, then here are simple life rules that will help improve your day!

Let it go

Never ruin a good day by thinking about a bad day yesterday. You can’t change the past.

Don’t compare!

The only person you should compare yourself to is you. It’s not a competition. Don’t compare your life to others, you have no idea what their journey is all about.

Stay calm

It’s OK not to have everything figured out, don’t worry you will get there.

Ignore them

Don’t listen to negative people. What others think of you is none of your business. Be positive and do what you want.

Give it time

As the old saying goes, time heals everything.

Stop thinking too much

It’s OK not to know the answers to everything. The answers will come when you least expect it.

Put problems in context

Will it matter in a week? Two months? Three years? How many things from three years ago matter today? What about two months? Last week? If this is like those things, give it the attention it deserves. If it isn’t , don’t. And if it’s not going to matter next week, month or year, imagine what life is going to be like when you’ve moved on from this!

It’s on you

You are in charge of your happiness, do what makes you happy!

Seek out support

It is important to reach out to your community, your friends, your family, when you need it. As dads, we are conditioned to think we should always be the ones who support others, but it is okay to acknowledge that sometimes we are the ones who need support. Give the people in your life a chance to repay you for all the times you have helped them. You might be surprised to learn that your community really wants to help you.

and finally

Smile

Life is short, enjoy it while you can! Finding a reason to smile can brighten up even the darkest of days.
